Platinum’s Top 5 Holiday Destinations
So for this month’s blog we have asked our team to recommend their favourite holidays destinations; and have come up with our very own top 5 places to visit this summer. With virtually guaranteed sunshine, if you are looking for some last minute inspiration to brighten up your summer this is the place to look.
SAN SEBASTIAN, SPAIN
“The best food in the world.”
To kick-start our top 5 Cameron has recommended San Sebastian in Spain’s mountainous Basque Country.
If you like beaches, good food & stunning scenery then San Sebastian is the place for you.
It’s an outstanding location and has the benefit of being a little over 2 hours on the plane from Manchester. A beach town surrounded by mountains overlooking the stunning Concha Bay Cameron visited the region with his wife last year and claimed they ate “the best food in world“, which is no surprise as it’s world renowned for its endless selection of outstanding and innovative restaurants.
Rhodes, Greece
“Clear sea, gorgeous sand, it’s beautiful!”
Erin travelled to the greek island of Rhodes with her partner back in 2022.
The largest of the greek islands, Rhodes is full of beautiful beaches, clear seas & golden beaches. When it comes to finding nice places to eat you don’t have to look far to find local independent restaurants offering delicious traditional greek food.
For anyone that likes getting away from the pool and exploring, the island is steeped in history with some ancient sites dating back thousands of years; so there is plenty to see.
It’s over 4 hours on a flight from Manchester but is worth the wait; you will not regret travelling here for a holiday.
Ibiza, Spain
“Party, relax, & eat amazing food.”
Ibiza has it all which is why it’s no surprise Annie, Amber & Gemma have recommended it as a summer holiday destination.
Under 3 hours flight from Manchester, Ibiza is a really easy location for a summer trip. Holiday makers are spoilt for choice when it comes to partying, relaxing, hiking, eating & boat trips; all of which can be found across the island. As popular with the rich and famous there is a good chance you might even bump into the odd celebrity.
Warning, it can be pricey in places but it’s still possible to enjoy an amazing trip on a budget. Trust us when we say this is a place you’ll want to return to.
The Caribbean, Barbados & Dominican Republic
“It’s simply paradise.”
We all know about The Caribbean & there are plenty of islands to visit for anyone lucky enough to travel there.
Samantha & Courtney have been lucky enough to visit Barbados & the Dominican Republic on their family holidays; and they can’t recommend the places enough! Although very different islands, both were described as a paradise with a specific mention about how friendly everyone was … maybe that’s down to the slow & relaxed way of island life.
Think of white sandy beaches decorated with palm trees surrounded by crystal clear water.
If you ever get the chance to go to The Caribbean, take it!
SOUTH AFRICA
“Watching animals living in the wild is indescribable.”
Recommended by both Chloe & Rebecca (AKA Queen of Travel), someone who’s opinion on holiday destinations should be taken very seriously.
South Africa has a lot to offer and the value for money is amazing. Safari is probably the first thing you associate with Africa and this is still true for South Africa. However, this country also has some of the tastiest wines & best quality steaks to offer. So if you are a foodie that likes a good view the scenery in this country is simply jaw dropping.
The flight time from Manchester is just shy of 14 hours which is long but the time difference is only 1 hour ahead meaning you won’t need to worry about dealing with jet lag.
So if you’re good with long haul flights and enjoy a premium steak & award wining wine with the potential of a trip into the savannah or up a mountain then you should seriously consider a trip to South Africa.
